Military-Connected Students and Families

Welcome to Hunt Valley Elementary School!

Hunt Valley Elementary School (HVES) is proud to be a Purple Star School.  One in four students at HVES is connected to a military branch in our community. Being a home to many military connected families and youth, we are fortunate to have a Military Family Life Counselor (MFLC) working with this student population.  Our MFLC offers a variety of services and is available to parents and students.

Below you will find information and resource links to help your transition into Fairfax County and Hunt Valley Elementary School.  We value you and are thankful for your service!

Military Support Staff Resources

Hunt Valley's Family Liaison

HVES has a Family Liaison dedicated to supporting military-connected families through school transition, resources for military installations and FCPS, and can provide helpful information about our surrounding community. If you are new to area or planning an upcoming move, contact Cynthia Youssef, @email.

Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLC)

The Military and Family Life Counseling program supports service members, their families and survivors with confidential non-medical counseling where they are stationed. Non-medical counseling can help individuals address issues such as improving relationships at home and work, stress management, adjustment difficulties, parenting, and grief or loss.

Trained to work with the military community, military and family life counselors deliver valuable face-to-face counseling services, as well as by phone and video. They also provide group support with briefings and topic-specific presentations to the military community both on and off the installation. To get started, contact Jillian Marshall.
